PIRANHA (1978)

 This is probably my favorite JAWS-rip-off and definitely my favorite American version of that classic sea-creature(s)-gone-amok tale. While the remake wasn't a complete piece of shit the original flavor still wins out to me for style and just all-around un-ironic monster movie goodness. Made by the usually great Joe Dante for Roger Corman's New World Pictures and featuring an awesome cast that includes Paul Bartel, Barbara Steele, Dick Miller and Kevin McCarthy from INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS playing his usual screaming nut-ball role. Blood, boobs, ugly 70's fashions(basically just Miller's outfit), some stop-motion creatures and flesh-eating fishes, what more do you need to entertain your boring ass?
 This was followed by James Cameron's PIRANHA II: THE SPAWNING where the hungry little fellows grow some wings and bite people right in the face, which sounds a lot better than the actual movie is.
