HERENCIA DIABOLICA (1993)

 This horror flick about a killer doll has been described as the Mexican version of CHILD'S PLAY. Having never seen any of those stupid movies I can't say how closely it compares. It does feature a midget portraying a murderous little jester/clown doll and lends itself to being really entertaining when you cut it up into little out-of-context scenes which is how I first discovered it. The whole film, while not as spectacular, is still worth a look for Mexican trash movie fans which I certainly am. 

 While the release date is 1993 this has way more of an 80s slasher movie vibe to it. English title - DIABOLICAL INHERITANCE

EVIL NIGHT (1992)

  I caught this in the middle of a horror marathon last weekend and since it's a really low budget shot-on-video project it did not look very good projected on a large screen. Probably the coolest thing about this  was checking out all the horror movie posters in one of the rooms they filmed in. There is also a lot of gore and some heavy rockin' tunes but overall this is a pretty big waste of time. If it's not unwatchable enough some scenes appear to be shot on even crappier tape than others. There's a telekinetic killer who wears a clown mask for no discernable reason and some zombies show up to end it all. Somehow director Todd Jason Cook would go on to make a bunch more movies like this. 

 22 years later there was a remake and then 3 years after that there was a sequel to the original film churned out. 

                Even on a very small screen this is still blurry as hell!:

KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE (1988)

  I had successfully managed to avoid seeing this for many years up until a few nights ago when a friend of mine took me to a midnight showing in a local theater and it was just as stupid as I had anticipated. I know it's a favorite of many 80s kids, in fact there were a few folks in attendance all dressed up in full clown attire for this event, but I've never really seen the appeal of clown cinema(unless you're making a John Wayne Gacy docudrama of course!) I will give the film high points for all the great-looking practical effects done by The Chiodo Brothers. Can't say much for their directing abilities but apparently most people don't seem to mind. Luckily for me Stephen Chiodo never directed another feature. 

This could have been a much better film if it was 4 minutes long and starred The Dickies!:
