SHINING SEX (1976)

 Glitter kills! Lina Romay gets abducted by a female being from another dimension(Evelyne Scott) and her human slave(Raymond Hardy, who was Lina's real-life husband at the time, in some cool shades) then is sent around to kill anyone who knows too much. She accomplishes this by getting rubbed with some lotion and then turning progressively more sparkly(thanks to all the glitter on her body) and becoming deadly to the touch. Director Jess Franco shows up as a professor who explains what the hell is going on. Light on plot and long on taking it's time to do anything at an hour and 45 minutes it is a bit of a rough watch. It does feature long closeup shots of Lina's shaved bare vagina so if that's your thing give it a sleazy glare. 

 There are shorter cuts of this including the French one with hardcore footage and an animated title sequence. 

NIGHT OF THE EAGLES (1989)

  This is one of the best-looking films directed by Euro-sleaze master Jess Franco, unfortunately it's also one the more boring films of his. It's basically a drama about a love triangle set during World War 2. There's a minimum of actions scenes and stock footage, from a 1971 Italian war movie titled HEROES WITHOUT GLORY, is used for some of that. It's is a little weird to see Luke Skywalker himself(Mark Hamill) in a Franco flick but this is a very tame version of a Eurotrash film with nothing very exploitative about it. There's also a bit of music that makes me think ol' Jess wanted to do his version of CABARET or something. Christopher Lee, as always, does a decent job and might be one of the only reasons to watch this. AKA FALL OF THE EAGLES

THE GIRLS OF THE GOLDEN SALOON (1975)

  So it's the old-west and there's a whorehouse above a saloon and women are kidnapped and forced to work there. I thought this movie was gonna follow the women-in-prison template but things never really get all that serious. In fact pretty much all the raping and imprisoning of women is just done for laughs which makes for a pretty inconsequential viewing experience. It is weird to see a Eurocine production that's also a period piece that requires western sets. I would not have thought that they ever had the budget for such things but apparently this film was a re-edited version of 1963's  THE SIGN OF THE COYOTE, which would explain where the more extravagant settings came from and also the hodge-podge nature of everything that happens, with new sex scenes inserted. Also this is allegedly a sequel to 1972's RED HOT ZORRO but having never seen that I can't say how much of an actual follow-up it is. Very skippable unless you really wanna see a sexy western, a Zorro homage, a naked fat lady or lots of Euro-bush and floppy dicks.

THE PANTHER SQUAD (1984)

 So if CHARLIE'S ANGELS was a low-budget Eurotrash film and there were 6 girls instead of 3 and they were led by Sybil Danning and Jack Taylor this might be the result. Taylor seems to be playing a drunken spoof of a James Bond-type while Danning dons a lovely heavy metal leather outfit through most of the film. The gals are also decked out in some new-wavey ensembles complete with that 80s big hair. The fight scenes are delightfully absurd as our female heroes kick ass on everyone they encounter. There's a bunch of stock footage of rockets and explosions as the villains are some environmental wackos who want to stop space exploration. The most sci-fi thing I've seen from Eurocine studios(a laser gun even shows up at one point!) but it's still mostly just an action movie. Whether the movie was meant to be taken at all seriously or was intended as one big take-off I'm not exactly sure but either way it's a goofy memorable oddity.
 On the negative side the main thing sorely lacking is any nudity and also for all the violence on display not any blood or gore to really elevate this thing to cult greatness.
 Release on VHS as FEMALE MERCENARIES II which would make this a sequel to Ted V. Mikels' THE DOLL SQUAD which was released on video as FEMALE MERCENARIES complete with a fake cast and crew listed on the slipcase.

SUCCUBUS (1971)

 Most well known as THE DEVIL'S NIGHTMARE this was a non-descript VHS tape that I picked up for $1 that just had a SUCCUBUS label on the side. Not being able to pass up such a mystery or such a bargain I had to check this out again. The movie itself is one I've seen many times over the years starting with Commander USA's Groovy Movies program and then on VHS as THE DEVIL WALKS AT MIDNIGHT and I always enjoyed the creepy atmosphere and general Eurotrash-horror-vibe of the whole thing. It starts out in shocking fashion with a Nazi stabbing a baby to death! Along the way it does slow down and drag in places but if you can overlook that it's an entertaining watch with a sexy Erika Blank wearing some skimpy attire and offing, in various ways, a group of travelers who represent the seven deadly sins. An extra spooky Satan also lurks about, we get a death by iron maiden and even a lesbian scene is thrown in for the hell of it.
 Besides the alternate titles shown above this is also known as THE DEVIL'S LONGEST NIGHT, NIGHTMARE OF TERROR, CASTLE OF DEATH and my favorite(though it doesn't fit this movie very well) VAMPIRE PLAYGIRLS.
