THE FILTHY RICH (1980)

 This is one of those old-school pornos that I first saw in a softcore-version on The Playboy Channel when I was too young to be watching such smut. For this reason it holds a special nostalgic place in my mind (and crotch) and I probably rate this higher than most porn perusers do. Vanessa Del Rio is the main draw here in her over-the-top stereotypical Latina-maid role as Chili Caliente and a close second is Lisa DeLeeuw whose character has one of the greatest porn names ever, Magnolia Thunderpussy, the nymphomaniacal, Texan, sex-toy saleslady. Nothing too crazy happens except for some leather-daddies who show up towards the end and get with the s & m action but still this one is good for a few chuckles along with all the explicit humping and sucking. Also since there is an actual plot to this it's better than any porn that's been made in the last 30 years.



There is band that took their name from this fine film(or maybe from the old-timey burlesque dancer.) They kind of sound like a crappy version of The Dead Milkmen but at least they have a sweet name:

HER NAME WAS LISA (1980)

 After LAST HOUSE ON DEAD END STREET director Roger Watkins made a bunch of porn flicks and this one's probably the most well known.  It's a pretty dark tale of a cheap prostitute named Lisa played by Samantha Fox who we first see laying dead at her funeral.  There's a surprising anti-drug message and the whole film is told in flashbacks through various people that knew Lisa including Vanessa Del Rio. It chronicles her downward spiral and is not the most uplifting thing you coulda jerked off to back in 1980. You can tell that Watkins wanted to make something more than just another silly fuck flick and he does.  There's some Led Zeppelin and Kraftwerk tracks among the various borrowed music.  You get some light bondage and a rich guy gets a well-deserved dildo-raping of his ass.  Also one of my personal favorite porn actors Bobby Astyr(who in real life was married to Fox) shows up in a typically goofy role as a scumbag who gets a little rapey.  This is a must see for fans of the era when porn mattered.

APPOINTMENT WITH AGONY (1976)

                                

 Many people think that roughie-style sexpoitation flicks ended with the advent of hardcore porn and while maybe that's technically true they made a whole slew of hardcore roughie-type films on into the 70's. There's also a lot of people that think today's porn is way more violent than the old stuff and while I'm no expert on new boring jerk-off movies I don't think that's really true if you delve deep enough into the classic porn era and actually find stuff that hasn't been censored to shit over the years. The Avon company is one of the main producers of your more edgy rape-filled, slap-happy type of smut and this here is a good example of their brand of filthiness. It features Vanessa Del Rio as a hitchhiker who ends up tied up, held hostage and gang-raped by an interracial group of weirdos and has a bottle shoved inside of her. She gets to show off her acting talents while being continually violated for what I assume was a scary 42nd Street crowd back in the day. That's the first half of this 60 minute extravaganza for the second act we get a "family" with two well over 18 full grown girls who talk like little kids and then there's more rape and a little incest thrown in for good measure. Also Vanessa gets beat up a little more and we watch a girl pee. While all this is going on some psychedelic Pink Floyd tunes play in the background. Eventually we end up with our main rapist in jail singing some folk song about his bad luck which is also how it all began. 
 While this is no classic of any sort it is a good view into the ultra-sleazy underbelly of porn where the rape-happy seventies intersected with the fuck and suck flick. For true lowlifes only.

THE SEX TEAM (1977)

 Vanessa Del Rio and a couple of her roommates decide to invite a bunch of guys over to their apartment and have a sex Olympics to break up their boredom.  That's pretty much it and you can tell by that description that this is a really fucking stupid porn flick.  Bobby Astyr has a big role since silly porn comedies are his specialty and director Gerard Damiano appears in between sex scenes doing a TV sports announcer bit.  The movie is full of completely strange stock music while the fucking and sucking is going on.  The music bed is supplied with everything from classical to stuff you would hear on SESAME STREET which makes things a little odd but I'm sure the audiences back in the day didn't mind much. Sharon Mitchell and Robert Kerman are also in this for a little bit. Strangely the print I saw of this had no titles or credits anywhere on it so I'm not sure who a few of the other naked bodies are. This goes under a bunch of alternate titles including JOINT VENTURE, EROTIC OLYMPICS, SEX MARATHON, and COMPETITION!.  Overall this filth flick is a pretty big waste of time and their are way better classic titles out there to watch before this one.
