I SAW WHAT YOU DID (1965)

The great William Castle directs this cautionary tale about the perils of crank-calling. It mixes together, a very sit-com-like story of a couple of teenage girls having a sleep-over and a homicidal, kill-crazy fellow who just can't stop stabbing the ladies in his life. Joan Crawford does a pretty amazing job as the nagging older neighbor-lady in our perpetually annoyed murderer's(John Ireland) life.  The tone of this thing is a bit jarring with someone being killed one second and then some jaunty BEACH PARTY-style tune starts playing but it still somehow manages to work as an effective thriller and as a bonus I learned what the word "uxoricide" means thanks to some of the posters.
There was a made-for-TV remake of this in the 80s but I've only read bad things about it.

ROSEMARY'S BABY (1968)

I feel like the success of this film was largely responsible for the onslaught of all those Satanic films that came out throughout the 1970's. So it's got that going for it. Also it's just an amazingly iconic film with a bleak ending(which was also pretty much the norm for the next decade or so). Everyone in this movie does an amazing acting job. There's nothing graphic shown but the psychological-horror aspects of this film have really never been topped since. Looking back at it today it's hard to imagine a world where a film like this is a huge success. In what is probably the only example of an academy award going to someone that actually deserves it Ruth Gordon won for best supporting actress. Typically Mia Farrow wasn't even nominated.
This was produced by William Castle but is pretty unique in his filmography which mainly consists of way more light-hearted and schlocky stuff. Castle makes a Hitchcock-like cameo appearance.
There is a made-for-TV sequel, LOOK WHAT'S HAPPENED TO ROSEMARY'S BABY but it doesn't look very good.

THE TINGLER (1959)

Vincent Price can make me a believer in even the most ridiculous premise. In this movie, directed by the great William Castle, it's a pretty ridiculous story about a monster that lives in everyones spine. This monster, which looks like a big nasty worm, lives on fear and is defeated by screams, or something like that. The cool thing about this, as with almost every Castle production, is that they used a special gimmick when it was originally shown. This one had "Percepto" which was a buzzer under your seat that would give your ass a jolt when the monster appeared onscreen. Caught this a few years back at a revival showing and yes I got my ass buzzed. Good times plus where else can you watch Vincent Price trip out on acid?
