THE FAT BLACK PUSSYCAT (1963)

"Some of my best friends are existentialists!"

  I had always assumed this was an old sexploitation flick based on the title but turns out it's more in the roughie category. So rough in fact that's it's basically a slasher flick(or maybe even a giallo since the killer wears black leather gloves!) since it focuses on the murders of various women around New York's Greenwich Village. Wavy Gravy of Woodstock-fame shows up as a cop looking a bit different than the hippie he would become in a couple of years.  Beatniks get assaulted and snuffed out and it all ends with an explanation about how being a homosexual cross-dresser leads to becoming a psychopath. Probably not the most PC message in today's ultra-sensitive times. Sadly the black cat that shows up at every murder scene isn't all that fat and more sadly they seem to have forgotten to show any real nudity in this.

 So what I learned from this 60s roughie is if you do not bang your wife there is a good chance she will run off with a female biker gang and become a lesbian. Of course the more blatant message here is that even the most dyke-est of dykes just needs some good loving from a man to set her on the road to heterosexual bliss and away from a life of the "unnatural". This totally un-p.c. thought-process is probably the aspect of the movie that I love the most. I imagine if a movie was made today with an even slightly similar idea in it everyone involved would have urine thrown at them by bands of militant "feminists" offended by any thought that does not go along with their view of society. Besides these modern-day offensive ideas the movie has just a silly plot about blackmail and a bunch of scenes of people,mostly ladies, rolling around with each other half-naked while smooth jazz plays. There's also some naked motorcycle driving at a beer picnic if that's your fetish. A real retro treat to piss off your lesbian friends with.

OLGA'S HOUSE OF SHAME (1964)

 The last of the original OLGA trilogy of cheaply-made roughie films(though there were a couple of later movie that used the OLGA name that didn't actually feature the real Olga(Audrey Campbell). This film is basically just a collection of s & m and bondage and discipline scenes acted out poorly with mostly voice over narration trying to create some sorta plot tying it all together. This was clearly created to play to weirdo degenerates on 42nd street at the time and is really a strange look into a pervy past. There's a soldering-iron to the tits, spanking, beatings, whippings, electrocution, clamps applied to fingers, nipples and hands, a surprisingly small amount of actual nudity and even a chase scene involving a gay? man in a onesie gets thrown in to give us some ridiculous action. Overall this works today more as a curiosity than a great piece of entertainment but it's sure to add some great visuals to your next dull party. Also Olga gets extra props from me for laying the groundwork for Ilsa's future evil ways.

TWO GIRLS FOR A MADMAN (1968)

 This nudie-cutie/roughie certainly has potential with it's giggling rapist/madman of the title but for the most part it just drags a lot. You do get naked boobs and ass, including a shower scene, lesbian back-massages, people getting dressed and undressed slowly and a weird orgy but it coulda been so much better if they woulda went the LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT or the HITCH HIKE-route and just gone all out with the sadism and brutality but I guess the 60's weren't ready for that kind of insanity and we have to wait for the 70's to roll around. Probably the most politically incorrect scene here involves a gal who gets sexually assaulted and then fantasizes about her attacker. As it all plays out you get some good scenes with our madman, some crappy folk music, a beatnik acid-head and the orgy where a bunch of people wear those clear Halloween masks that are always a little creepy. There are way worse nudie-cuties out there.

IN HOT BLOOD (1968)

 A young gal decides to be a nudie model and from there it turns into a life of drugs, sex parties(where some really fake-looking whipping goes on and people use whipped-cream as a lube)and wanton lesbianism. The lesbian scenes are pretty funny and consist of ice-cubes being rubbed on nipples, boobs being jiggled and bathtub-frolicking. This film takes a hard left turn at the end and we get a meat-cleaver massacre where a hand gets chopped off out of the blue. Luckily it's a pretty short film since most of these allegedly titillating scenes go on for way too long. Check it out if you dig full-figured 60's gals fellating bananas or just bouncy black & white boobs and jazz music.

 

WET WILDERNESS (1975)

 If you can imagine a hardcore 70's porn film mixed with a proto-slasher film featuring a guy in a yellow ski-mask with the word "love" written on it in magic marker carrying a large machete and axe offing folks after he cums you get the idea of what this film is. About as basic as you can get with sex scenes followed by violence. Interesting really only as a curiosity piece displaying a genre that appealed to the sleaziest degenerates around back in 70's grind-houses so, of course, I dug it the most! Insane dubbed dialogue, a black character who I think is introduced just so some goofy racism talk can be inserted, there's forced incest and people get whacked with a machete as fake blood is strewn about. What's not to love here? One negative I will say is that the DVD I have of this got rid of the original soundtrack for obvious legal reasons since it featured tunes from JAWS, PSYCHO and TAXI DRIVER. While I understand the necessity for this it would be an amazingly surreal experience to view it this way and would be way better than the stupid moaning and dirge-like music they replaced it with. I think the Alpha Blue Archives release might have this version available. Gotta check into that. Stay sleazy!

COME DEADLY (1974)

 This one's kind of a sleazy low-budget porn version of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.  You get a masked rapist strangler in a goofy hat and gardening gloves, lots of bad acting and sex scenes featuring not particularly attractive people.  You don't get any blood thanks to the choking preference of our killer.  The plot is straight from SCOOBY-DOO with a big unmasking at the end.  I picked this up on a double DVD set with a much sleazier and actually bloody horror porn called WET WILDERNESS that delivers the goods way better than this one. On the positive side this is barely an hour long and might give you a chuckle or two but probably not a boner. AKA THE HARDER THEY FALL

THE KISS OF HER FLESH (1968)

Michael Findlay who working alongside his wife Roberta was responsible for a bunch of low-budget sleazy 60's epics designed to be shown on New York's 42nd Street and then forgotten about.  KISS OF HER FLESH is the third film in their "FLESH" trilogy and is the culmination of the whole lurid revenge-fueled tale.  Everything seems to be amped up in this final rampage of  the killer, Mr. Jennings, as he takes out women just because they're women.  You see Mr. Jennings' wife cheated on him and that just drove him over the edge and turned him into a woman hating, kill-crazy, nut-bag who vows to kill every woman in the world!  A pretty lofty goal but he had a good run of three movies at least.  The inventiveness and absurdity of the weapons and killing methods used is always amusing and in this one our misogynist psycho uses a blow-torch, acid douche, electrified earrings, a lobster claw and even his own poisoned sperm!  The sex scenes are unexpectedly graphic for this era also with vagina on display and an almost hardcore looking simulated blow-job bit.  The whole thing does play like some long lost slasher movie with sleazy sex thrown in and I kind of feel like this is what William Lustig's MANIAC would have looked like if it was filmed in 1968 instead of 1980 and that's why I enjoyed it so much.  If you're looking to watch some depraved entertaining weirdo flick that played back when the phrase grind-house actually meant something this would be one I would suggest.
