EYES OF A STRANGER (1981)

This is an early 80's slasher flick that kinda feels like a T.V. movie with bloody kills thrown in. This might be because it stars Julie from THE LOVE BOAT program as a news anchor that just so happens to live very close to a rapist/serial-killer. It also features a young Jennifer Jason Lee before she went on to be in FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH. For what seems like a very mainstream film it contains some gruesome slashings that it lingers on but I guess this was the height of slasher-chic. The killer seems pretty dumb since after he knows he's been found out he just goes right on offing ladies but maybe he just didn't care about being apprehended. Heads roll(and end up in fish tanks), necks get slit and even a poor dog is not safe in this one. Well made for what it is.
Director Ken Wiederhorn's earlier SHOCK WAVES shows up playing on T.V. and a DAWN OF THE DEAD poster appears no doubt a nod to special FX master Tom Savini who worked on this.

Siskel & Ebert were not exactly fans of the gory bits!:

MEATBALLS PART II (1984)

Five years after the original MEATBALLS this happened. There's a lot of shitty things about this movie. Firstly, this is a teen sex comedy with no boobs and really no sex at all!  A god-damned PG-rated romp full of mostly ugly people. There's an E.T.-ripoff alien in this for no reason at all and no one seems all that surprised by him and his magical powers. Bill Murray is replaced by Richard Mulligan who I recall from that show SOAP which he was good on but he's no Bill Murray. In addition to him you get a lot of familiar faces including Pee Wee Herman as the bus driver, Elayne Boosler, John Larroquette as a gay military fellow and the main gal(also one of the few attractive humans in this), Kim Richards, who was in that fine TV-movie DEVIL DOG: THE HOUND OF HELL. Also of note is one scene where our campers have a showing of the zombie flick SHOCK WAVES which is a much better PG movie which contains arguably more laughs.

SHOCK WAVES (1977)

Pretty decent underwater nazi-zombies flick starring John Carradine and Peter Cushing.  Carradine really only appears for the first third or so of the film and I always end up staring at his creepy arthritis-riddled hands whenever he's onscreen.  Cushing pops up later on with a German accent and looks very thin and skeleton-esque.
The main drawback this film has is that it's rated PG and the fascist zombies prefer drowning and/or choking their victims to death instead of the more popular gut-munching which makes this flick totally gore-less so don't bother with it if that's all you're looking for.  The other minor quibble I have with the plot is how the first thing they do is show us the sole-survivor of the zombie attack so we know how it's all going to end up right from the opening.  Talk about destroying any sense of suspense.  Besides these things though I think the movie is off-kilter and different enough to at least give it a look if you're a horror fan.
I always assumed, due to Cushing's involvement, that this was a British film but apparently it was filmed in Florida.  The director Ken Wiederhorn went on to do KING FRAT which is probably the stupidest ANIMAL HOUSE rip-off movie ever made so that's something to be proud of.

One of the working titles of this was DEATH CORPS but I guess since a poster exists it mighta been released as that also:
