Another sex-filled Jess Franco flick featuring Lina Romay(billed here under her Candy Coster pseudonym under a blonde wig but playing a character named Lina!). This one brings back the Al Pereira detective character(this time played by Antonio Mayans) from a bunch of previous Franco films. There is a slim plot about Lina hiring Pereira for some reason or another but the main focus seems to be on getting some pretty shots of the Spanish countryside and nekked bodies or at least that's what I took away from this one. Some gold-lame' suits and a tranny?(cross-dresser?) show up for some variety.
Lina Romay stars in this Jess Franco-directed sleaze flick as a 17-year old girl who falls victim to a demonic curse set in motion by her father before she was even born. Of course her playing an underage girl doesn't stop her from being completely naked and experiencing some kinky lesbian antics throughout a good portion of the movie including gratuitous pubic hair munching. There's a pretty uncomfortable-looking penetration by a wooden dildo, incest abounding and Howard Vernon playing the tough henchman of our main demon-lady Lorna(Pamela Stanford wearing some crazy glam-looking eye makeup). Franco himself shows up as a terribly ineffective psychiatrist. Not my favorite Franco but it is growing on me with repeated watches and the scene where a lady dies by getting actual genital crabs is pretty killer!
IMDB erroneously lists a couple of different versions of this but it looks like they're mixing whatever those various versions are called up with Franco's EXCORCISM so thanks for the added confusion IMDB!
Lina Romay(billed as Candy Coster) has some nightmares involving, the transexual star of many sleazy Eurotrash films, Ajita Wilson and her 2 slaves. Director Jess Franco shows up as a retarded simpleton who informs Romay that the lady in her dreams is a long dead African Priestess but that doesn't stop her from showing up throughout the rest of the movie and seducing Romay and her mate. It's all very surrealistic and dreamlike. I introduced a friend of mine to the weird world Jess Franco cinema with this film during a recent marathon of his films at a local theater and it's probably not the best choice as it's truly a bizarre one that you should really work your way up to.
This is supposedly a remake of Francos' more well known VAMPYROS LESBOS, obviously swapping an evil African priestess for a lesbian vampiress. LESBOS itself was kind of a weird interpretation of the original DRACULA novel so it all goes back to Bram Stoker.
Possibly due to the fact that the version I watched of this obscure Jess Franco sex flick was taken from a pretty crappy-looking video and the acting was very stagey it reminded me of something Andy Milligan woulda made. This was also the last film in a 14+ hour marathon of Uncle Jess' work so my mind was feeling a bit altered by this point. The most hardcore film from this event, there are probably a couple of different versions ranging in explicitness, this one featured lingering zooms into vaginas and even a fake cumshot. The plot has to do with horny women who have escaped from the doomed continent of Atlantis and their sexual exploits. Not exactly the most riveting thing but Franco completists will dig it.
Director Jess Franco had remade THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME a couple of times already in his long career with this being the worst example of that. It's not really until the last third of the movie that the plot seems to actually kick in with the first chunk feeling like a terrible music video with nudity. Lina Romay is featured still getting nekkid in movies into her 40s(Her English is a bit rough to comprehend a lot of the time) and there's some surprising cannibalism thrown in giving the title some relevance.
There are claims that this was Franco's last movie shot on film but the DVD I own look pretty similar to the shot-on-video dreck that he would be stuck making up until his death. A tough one to stay awake during and his output would only become worse after this!
This is the most comedic movie by director Jess Franco that I've seen yet. It's also the only comedy that I know of that's based(loosely) on a short story by Edgar Allen Poe. The goofy plot concerns a couple(Lina Romay & Emilio Alvarez) on their honeymoon who get mixed up with some criminals and secret agents looking for a lost treasure. Not as graphic in the sex department as most of Jess' sleazier works(Lina does sport the world's skimpiest bikini at one point though). Worth a watch if you want to see the light-hearted side of Franco.
This film was lost for about 40 years until just being rediscovered a few years ago.
Lina Romay(billed as Candy Coster) and 3 of her topless dancer co-workers go on vacation and end up at a spooky deserted hotel where horror ensues. This starts off as a pretty fun romp with plenty of lesbianic antics which is director Jess Franco's specialty and then turns into a sort-off rip-off of TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD with some hooded skull-faced Satanic killers running around. This is actually the 2nd movie I've seen that is a kinda "homage" to the BLIND DEAD, the first being NIGHT OF THE SKULL which this is certainly a step-up from. Drags in places but worth a watch if you're a sleaze-monger like myself.
Glitter kills! Lina Romay gets abducted by a female being from another dimension(Evelyne Scott) and her human slave(Raymond Hardy, who was Lina's real-life husband at the time, in some cool shades) then is sent around to kill anyone who knows too much. She accomplishes this by getting rubbed with some lotion and then turning progressively more sparkly(thanks to all the glitter on her body) and becoming deadly to the touch. Director Jess Franco shows up as a professor who explains what the hell is going on. Light on plot and long on taking it's time to do anything at an hour and 45 minutes it is a bit of a rough watch. It does feature long closeup shots of Lina's shaved bare vagina so if that's your thing give it a sleazy glare.
There are shorter cuts of this including the French one with hardcore footage and an animated title sequence.
Not director Jess Franco's finest work but still a mildly entertaining romp that mixes a spy movie with Franco's signature sleaze. Lina Romay(billed here as Candy Coster) and Nadine Pascal are our frequently naked leads who go from strippers to detectives for some reason that is never really explained very well. There's also a gang of hippies who live in caves, a human trafficking group led by a gal who uses a magical hypnotizing ring, torture, rape(not only of women but a gay dude gets molested against his will in a scene that's played for laughs), gun-fu and lots of Euro-bush. Director Jess Franco had a habit of remaking(or at least reusing themes from) his older films in the 80s. This one borrows a bunch from THE SINISTER EYES OF DR. ORLOFF in that it deals with a crippled gal(Lina Romay) who is used by her doctor as a killing machine so he can obtain a big inheritance. Also like that one this is a bit disappointing in the nudity or sleaze departments. This is especially sad since one of our main actresses, Mabel Escano, is obviously very well-endowed! This could maybe be overlooked if it also wasn't so slowly-paced. Certainly this is non-essential Eurotrash viewing. This was apparently shelved for 3 years before getting any sort of release so someone must have agreed with me.
Besides Jess Francos shot-on-video crap that he made at the end of his career his worst films have to be his action movies. This one even has some big name stars like Robert Forster and George Kennedy in it but still manages to be a mess. We do get a ridiculous scene of Mr. Kennedy in a gun fight with a helicopter but most of this movie is tough to get through. It also doesn't help that Franco, the king of sleazy cinema, imbues this movie with absolutely nothing sexy going on. Lina Romay has probably never been so wasted in a role. Director Jess Franco made this cop drama in the 90s and like most things from that decade it blows. This might be the most unlike a Jess Franco movie that I've ever seen his name attached to and it really seems more like your typical police TV show of the time than anything the master of sleazy Eurotrash cinema would have made. The one bright spot in this turd is Franco's mate and greatest find Lina Romay as a punk rock leader of a gang of miscreants. In her segments suddenly the movie briefly becomes a MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME rip-off with her taking the Tina Turner role(there's even a midget who mimics his big stupid friends which reminded me of Master Blaster). Sadly her appearance isn't very long and then it's back to very boring cop drama territory. Skippable and forgettable!
Spoiler-alert!: The shocking plot-twist here is that star Lina Romay doesn't actually get naked and screw everyone unlike most other Jess Franco-directed epics featuring her. This one deals more with Romay's comedic hijinks and a group of spies doing spy stuff. Howard Vernon plays a crazy old man and Franco himself pops up briefly. Miss Lina does wear some revealing and see-through outfits numerous times throughout so if the tease is more of a turn-onto you than the reveal give it a pervy look.
The movie poster up there is a take-off of the one used for GATOR which is weird since that came out 7 years earlier and is a very different typ of movie.
The old story of a husband and his mistress trying to drive his wife crazy. The twist here is that "the mistress" is actually a rather flamboyant gay fella making this the gayest film director Jess Franco has ever made(male on male anyway, lesbianism is in almost all of his movies of course). I guess technically he's bi since there's also a nun that gets sexually abused by our male leads but ends up liking it because "hey this was filmed in the 70s!". Lina Romay does a pretty good job as the neglected wife but overall this is a pretty depressing tale with no clear viewpoint except maybe that people are pretty shitty.
One unexpected thing that did stand out to me from this is that during the finale they use the bed spear kill from FRIDAY THE 13th PART 2. Of course this was previously used in Mario Bava's BAY OF BLOOD but I would not have guessed it was gonna show up here.
Loosely based on the writings of the Marquis DeSade who seems to be Franco's go-to guy for inspiration. AKA EROTIC SYMPHONY
So having Klaus Kinski play the title role here is a big plus, unfortunately director Jess Franco imbues the film with such a leisurely pace that it really drags things down. There are a few gory bits in the uncut version, including poor Lina Romay getting one of her tits cut off and multiple stabbings happen but it's hard to get over the dullness of it all. Also it plays like a mystery but we all already clearly know who the killer is.
My favorite-named actor Herbert Fux shows up and Franco reuses the Dr. Orloff name for ol' saucy Jack.
Lina Romay is best when she plays, as she usually does, a victim of some terrible oppressor(she's also pretty good as a vampiress but that's besides the point). In this Jesse Franco flick she is miscast as the madam of a whorehouse. Luckily she gets herself kidnapped and tortured(by Franco himself as a nasty henchman) right away so we can overlook this casting error. I was expecting a women-in-prison situation here but what we get is a wealthy girl held for drugged and led into the seedy world of prostitution by Miss Romay and company. There's also a ransom plot involving Franco's favorite big, fat fatty actor Victor Mendes. If you watch enough of these films you will encountere the same actors many times. This one even features a returning potty-mouthed bird from Franco's LOVE CAMP. I guess Jess liked the idea of judgmental pets.
This one is fairly middle-of-the-road Eurosleaze stuff with all the expected nudity, vaginas and all on display along with some lesbian romping and rapey stuff. AKA SWEDISH NYMPHO SLAVES(which is also an AKA fro Franco's SATANIC SISTERS for additional confusion)
Eurotrash legend Jess Franco directs and stars in this sexy epic as a sleazy excommunicated priest who goes on a one-man killing spree to exorcise demons from the slutty ladies of Paris. Franco's mainstay actress(and future wife) Lina Romay is the main lady in this who appears in some strange stage shows where they do fake? black masses and human sacrifices for sophisticated artsy crowds that sometimes turns into a big orgy. There's one graphic gutting scene but most of the horror elements consist of some very fake looking whipping and stabbing where fake blood is just wiped on female midsections. EXORCISM is the sexier cut of this film. The DVD I have it on also contains DEMONIAC which is about 30 minutes shorter, plays up the horror elements more and has the ladies wearing a lot more clothes in it. There's also a hardcore porn version with added in scenes titled SEXORCISM(aka EXORCISM AND BLACK MASSES). Known in Canada under the spiffy title of CHAINS AND BLACK LEATHER(which really should be the title of a JUDAS PRIEST album or something along those lines). SADIST OF NOTRE DAME is a 1979 Franco flick that recycled a bunch of footage from this.
Despite it's rather leisurely pace and lackluster ending(including a very lackadaisical chase scene) I can't help but be entertained by Franco's weird output. This one is exclusively recommended to the sleazy cult crowd though.
I first watched this erotic flick back-to-back with SATANIC SISTERS which is director Jess Franco's very similar movie about two sisters. In both of these one is a crazy nympho and the other is the more manipulative ringleader. In this one both of these roles is played by the lovely Lina Romay who you get to see every inch of inside and out so if that's your goal this might be perfect for you. If you want an actual story to go along with your filth SATANIC SISTERS is a better choice. This one from what I gather was a rushed deal that Franco churned out at the same time he was working on his sleazy women-in-prison epic BARBED WIRE DOLLS and it certainly feels it. But this lack of a clear narrative makes this one seem especially artsy if not particularly meandering.Tons of nudity and hardcore shots make up a lot of the runtime so if 70s eurosleaze is your thing this delivers in that area. If you enjoy looking at Lina Romay's vagina this is the film for you. It all starts out with some explicit pussy shaving and goes on from there into the sex-filled world of our titular character. She bangs an old fat truck-driver, a naked kung-fu guy, a baby-faced fellow and a couple of other generic folks in between diddling herself. There's really no plot here and this plays as close to being a hardcore porn as you can get minus the cumshots and graphic penetration scenes. Good viewing for anyone really into seeing Romay play a nympho and that's about it.
I think every other film I've ever seen Romay in was directed by the great Jess Franco. This one is done by Erwin C. Dietrich who was a producer on many of Franco's films so it has exactly the same feel to it.
FEMALE VAMPIRE is one of my fav Jess Franco directed films. It's also one I've re-watched a whole bunch but I've never seen this version of it before. What EROTIKILL is, is a re-edited version that takes away some of the more crazy dream-like scenes and makes things more stream-lined and typically horror/vampire movie like. It is almost like watching a different film and I'm not sure if I like it more or less but it's an interesting viewing after seeing the original version so often. This would probably be the preferable edition for people that aren't into the whole artsy-aspect of Franco's work but I'm sure it would still seem pretty strange to the average viewer. There's also a hardcore version, titled INSATIABLE LUST, out there with full explicit blowjob scenes amongst others.
The story is pretty simple as it basically consist of Lina Romay playing a vampire who roams about in a mostly undressed state(bare vagina and full euro-bush proudly on display) feeding on folks and sucking out their blood and semen. Jack Taylor from PIECES(and a million other eurotrash flicks) plays one of her victims and Franco himself(with sweet 70's moustache and long greasy hippie hair) plays a doctor who is the only one who knows what's going down. There's also a non-ending finale, lesbian antics aplenty and gratuitous blood bathing and air-humping. A good watch for europerverts and non-retarded goths(do those exist?). AKA's= BARE BREASTED COUNTESS, JACULA, EROTIC KILL, SICARIUS: THE MIDNIGHT PARTY, THE LAST THRILL, THE LOVES OF IRINA and there's at least two dozen more in various cut and/or uncut form.
